PROFILE PROPERTY WINTER LEAGUE
Profile Property has agreed to sponsor Midlands Squash again for 2018. I would like to thank Garth Ware from Profile Property for his continued support of the Midlands Squash fraternity. The Reps meeting was held on the 19th February 2018 and a total of 89 teams have entered - a little down from last year.
Winter League commences on the 10th April and ends on the 20th September.
The hosting policy remains the same. Please be courteous and notify your opposition timeously if you are not staying for a meal.
It is compulsory that Juniors wear protective eye wear for all matches. This is a Squash SA rule. Results will be entered on SportyHQ and all players are encouraged to sign up to track results, logs and rankings. You can sign up by going onto the SportyHQ website www.sportyhq.com
Midlands Squash will be arranging a visual display on how to and how not to mark a squash match. More information will follow.
Last year, the Men’s 1st league teams played the final fixtures at Collegians, this was extremely successful having all matches played at one venue and we will be doing the same this year.
HANDBOOK ADVERTISING
Unfortunately, due to the price increase we have had to slightly increase the advertising rates for this year. The rate is R760 for a full page, R500 for a half page and R210 for a line advert. Approximately 500 books will be printed and distributed to all players, reserves and advertisers. This is an excellent way to market your company. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that have advertised in the handbook again this year. We really do appreciate your support as this contributes towards the cost of having the handbook and scorecards printed.
MASTERS DAVE SHORT IPT
The dates for the 31st Dave Short Masters IPT are from Friday the 1st to Sunday 3rd June. All the functions will be held at Collegians, ending with the ever popular braai on the Sunday. We are looking for a sponsor for this prestigious tournament so if you are keen please contact Rennisha.
JARVIS KAPLAN CUP
This will be held in Johannesburg from the 9-14 July. This is a highlight of the Squash Calendar. Our Men’s teams have begun their preparation under the watchful eye of Mark Gouweloos. Tristan and Josh will both be returning this year to play in the Men’s A Team.
MASTERS SINGLES IPT
This is being held in East London from the 7th to the 11th September. The men’s age groups have been altered as such (35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65 upward, GOLDEN OLDIES). The ladies’ sections will still be according to strength. Accommodation has been provisionally booked at the Kennaway Hotel. Gail Howes will be the contact person and in charge of this portfolio.
MASTERS DOUBLES IPT
2018 will see us all travelling to Eastern Gauteng. We will keep you all updated on tournament news once we receive it. Janine Talbot will be handling this portfolio.
MASTERS SPRING LEAGUE
This will remain at the Hilton College courts with the dinner at the Fleur de Lys on the final night. The league runs from the 9th October to 26th November. The new format of having singles and doubles has seen an increase in numbers and this year we may have to restrict entries so please pay your Masters’ subscriptions as members have first choice.
GENERAL
All correspondence and emails are please to be sent to the address on our letterhead.
Monies to be deposited into our bank account and your name recorded under the reference.
We look forward to your participation in our tournaments, failing which it would be great to see you supporting and watching Midlands Squash at these events.
