Entries for the 2022 Midlands Closed Championships in now open. Tournament will be held from the 20-24 June 2022 at various clubs in Pietermaritzburg.
The closing date for entries is the 3 June 2022

Entry fee is R190.00 and payable upon your online entry.
Players MUST be registered and paid up on SportyHQ for 2022 in order to enter.
If you are committed to playing in this tournament, kindly enter online. Tournament is open to everyone of all ages and strengths.

10. Players must attend prize giving in person on Friday night in order to claim their prize.
Failure to do so will result in prize money being forfeited unless the MSU Committee
decides that extenuating circumstances warrant the waiving of this rule.
Please take note of the following important information pertaining to this year’s tournament:
TIME AND VENUES: Please try and be at the courts as early as possible in order to mark the match preceding yours and in the good nature of the tournament, please try and stay and watch your fellow players once you have completed your match. Please also take note of the time of your match on the following day, in order to be at the courts promptly. All plate finals will be played on Thursday
SCORING: Men’s and Ladies A sections will play PAR to 11 and all the remaining sections will play PAR to 15.
MARKING AND REFEREEING: All players must stay after their match to Mark and Referee the next game.
PRIZEGIVING: The prize giving will be directly after the men’s A section final on Friday evening, followed by a cocktail party sponsored by the MSU. All prize winners need to be present in order to claim their prize unless prior arrangements have been made with the MSU. Those prizes not claimed will be put back into the MSU development fund.
We are also looking for a sponsor for this tournament. The Sponsor will have full naming rights of the Midlands Closed Championship and advertising put up during the matches at various courts as well as their logo displayed on my emails, SportyHQ, MSU website and facebook page. If you keen on sponsoring a minimum of R6000.00 towards the Closed Championships, please let me know as soon as possible.

- To qualify to enter the Midlands Champs a player must be a member of a club and be an active league player (regular or reserve) and be registered on SportyHQ.
- The draw will be sent out on email and the onus is on the player to establish his/her playing times.
- The Championship will be played according to the rules of Squash SA. Squash SA's Code of Conduct will be in force.
- It is compulsory for both players to mark/referee the match following theirs.
- Players are to report to their respective Tournament Convenor at least 15 minutes before their scheduled starting time. If a player is NOT ready to play within 10 minutes after the appointed time he/she will be scratched, unless the Tournament Convenor decides otherwise.
- All matches HAVE to be played at the stipulated venue and time on the draw. Players not meeting this requirement will be disqualified.
- All decisions made by the Tournament Convenor will be final.
- Players not fulfilling/or arriving for their fixture other than as a result of an injury, will be scratched, and will not be able to participate in this tournament for the next two years. Players cannot be replaced once the tournament starts.
