Gill Weedon Spring League 2011
Thank you for playing in our 23rd Spring League. We would like to thank all the loyal supporters of the league for playing once again – in this the 5th Gill Weedon league. At the same time we would like to welcome all the new comers and wish them an enjoyable tournament. This is a team game and you are expected to support your team mates. We would also like to welcome Andy Torr and his Gillitt’s team back again and wish them better luck this year!!
FIXTURES
All matches start promptly at 17h30. The first fixture is on Thursday 13 October. Please confirm your availability with your Captain NOW. Captains are also asked to ensure that they have a full side every week. The scorecards are be available from Dave and Michelle at the Exhaust Shoppe. Captains please get a member of the team to pick yours up. There will be a bye on 3 November to accommodate our players playing in the Masters Doubles IPT in Durban.
SOCIALISING
We meet in the Maritzburg Golf Club bar after every session of play where Yvonne will provide delicious light meals at very reasonable prices.
PRIZE GIVING DINNER/DANCE
This will be held at Maritzburg Golf Club on Thursday 1 December after the last match. This will be a casual function and supper will be available at special rates. Friends are also welcome.
General Notices
1. Please support your team. Don't habitually come late and/or leave
until the last match is completed. Remember this is a TEAM tournament.
2. It is the players’ responsibility to find replacements of similar ability if unable to play. If a much stronger player is used then, at the discretion of the tournament
committee, the result may be switched. Please inform your Captain should you get a replacement.
3. Players are requested to provide their own light money where required.
4. Captains are requested to ensure that play starts promptly at 17h30 for every fixture by liaising with the opposing team each week and organising the first match beforehand.
5. Scorecards are to be handed in at the Social after your match. No scorecard, no score!!
6. All matches are the best of 5 games.
7. Please be circumspect at the schools with alcohol.
8. Scoring – best of 5 games using PAR15. If both players agree they may use PAR 11.
