These were distributed. Winter league would commence on the 10th April 2013 and end on the 19th September 2013. Prize-giving would be held on Friday the 11th October 2011 at Collegians. Private Schools are still on holiday for the first week of League, these fixtures will be played within seven days. The MSU AGM would be held in January 2014. Date still to be confirmed. All the other dates were accepted.
4. SELECTION OF LEAGUE TEAMS
4.1. Cathy Jackson went through the winter league entries and applied the guidelines for Winter League Entries. All the leagues for 2013 with the exception of Men’s 8th and 9th league was full with 10 teams each.
4.2. A proposal had been put forward by Cathy regarding the Mooi River side. Mooi River and Protea did not meet the marking clinic requirements and were therefore only entitled to 1 and 8 teams respectively. If Mooi River and Protea want a side in the 8th League, they would either have to hold a marking clinic at their own expense and ensure that their members attended or be subjected to a penalty fine. This was accepted by those present. Cathy to speak to the MSU Committee regarding this matter and get back to Mooi River and Protea.
5. GENERAL.
5.1. The league fees had been discussed by the MSU committee and set for the 2013 year at R1200-00 per team. This was
accepted. As agreed upon last year, if two players from every league team not only attended a marking clinic in 2012, but also wrote and passed the Level 2 marking exam, then not only would that team qualify for entry into the 2013 winter league season but also that, that side would pay the same league fees in 2013 as they had paid in 2012, and would not be subject to any increase in league fees for 2013.
5.2. Cathy Jackson thanked the advertisers for their support in 2012 as this offset the cost of printing the handbooks and scorecards and advised that in light of the increase in printing cost, the price for adverts in the 2013 handbook has increased. . Handbook adverts would cost R450-00 for a half page and R700-00 for a full page and a line would cost R165-00.
5.3. Scorecards will be amended to accommodate the 5th player for the Ladies A league. This line is to be ignored by the rest of the league teams. Also, the lines will be increased in order for players to write in their full names.
5.4. Scorecards could either be posted to the MSU post box, faxed, scanned and email to the MSU office or dropped off in one of the official MSU post-box at Collegians. It was still the responsibility of Lynwood and VCC to clear their post-boxes and get the scorecards to the MSU office within the one week time period as provided for in our rules.
5.5. A template form, which will be sent to all the club reps, is to be filled in with all the players’ details. Club’s league teams
and ladders, and the court usage charts must be submitted to the MSU office. League numbers are allocated by the clubs and new players must be registered before a match and the MSU office advised accordingly.
Cathy thanked everyone for their attendance.
