Our new Committee, as elected at the AGM held on 21nd January 2019, has been hard at work this year. We have completed the first half of the season and are proud to say that all our events and tournaments have been successfully completed under the stewardship of our various appointed co- ordinators, with their working committees.
MASTERS SUBSCRIPTIONS –
Your subscription fee for 2019 is R400.00. This includes the SA Masters Squash levy of R125.00 Membership is open to anyone 35 years and older.
The proof of payment and duly completed Masters form attached to this newsletter must be emailed to the MSU office email@example.com

ALL TOURNAMENT INFORMATION AND DATES
The first Inter Town took place on Saturday the 16th March in Durban.
We had 31 players participating, yet took another ½ carrot!! It was a draw. Phew!!
MASTERS SOCIAL DOUBLES – Co ordinator - Kim Gouweloos
This was held on Friday 12TH April at Collegians, followed by a braai.
REALISE ACADEMIES MIDLANDS CLOSED CHAMPIONSHIPS – Co ordinator - Mark Gouweloos

This prestigious annual event was held from the 6-10 May, with great support from our community and some excellent squash being played. A big thank you to the whole team that co-ordinated and managed this event so successfully.
This event lead to the selection of the 3 men’s teams to represent Midlands at this year’s Growthpoint IPT to be held in Durban – July 8-12.
A section: Tristan, Josh Taylor, Justin Gouweloos, Luke Mcfarland, Daryn Pieters.
B section: Alan Mcguigan, Mick Gouweloos, Eli Meyer, James Gouweloos, Kiashen Brimiah.
D section: Jason Cooper, Mark Gouweloos, Matthew Darch, Ralf Dedekind, Sean Strydom, Dalmain Strydom.
NB: All, please make an effort to go down to Durban to watch some top class squash. The opportunity to have this tournament on our doorstep does not present itself often.
A section squash can be watched at Westville daily from 2.00 pm onwards.
PROFILE PROPERTY WINTER LEAGUE - League Secretary - Andrew Barnes
There have been a couple of League issues that had to be address by Andrew and the Committee, but were all resolved.
NB: May we ask once again that CLUB reps ensure that Captains fully understand the rules, especially:
6.1 : Postponement of fixtures – If the set out criteria is not MET -DO NOT ASK.
10 : Fulfilment of a Fixture – The rules are clear – read them please and play accordingly. Thanks
MASTERS DAVE SHORT IPT – Co ordinator – Andrew Pratt
This prestigious tournament was co-ordinated by our very capable Andrew Pratt and his team of willing assistants, and was once again a great success.
We also thank Cathy Jackson and Janine Talbot for their assistance in this important event.
A special thanks goes to Kathy Jacob for all the hard work she did for this event – especially the fund raising and all the sponsorships she brought on board!!
MASTERS SINGLES IPT – Co ordinator – Gail Howes
This is being held in Pretoria from the 6th to the 10th September. The men’s age groups have been altered as such (35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65 upward, GOLDEN OLDIES). The ladies’ sections will still be played according to strength.
NB: We are still looking for players!! Please contact Rennisha or Gail Howes.

MASTERS DOUBLES IPT – Co ordinator – Kay Meyrick
This event is just around the corner and if you have not registered as a “Master” and entered, we urge you to do so soonest. It is time to start finalizing parings and sections soon.
MASTERS SPRING LEAGUE - Co ordinator – Kay Meyrick
This will be moving to Collegians this year as our arrangement with Hilton College has come to an end. The league runs from the 7th October to 25th November. The format of having singles and doubles has proven very successful and we intend keeping the format the same. To avoid disappointment in not getting a “slot” in this popular tournament, please pay your Masters’ subscriptions early, as members have first choice.
